RELEASE DAY AND GIVEAWAY: Greed (The Seven Deadly Sereis #2) by Fisher Amalie

Gather ‘round, love, because I want you. I want what you have, I want what you don’t have, I want more of what I already have. I want. But if you so much as ask for something in return, go ahead and walk away. Know if you want to play in my world, it’s every man for themselves and the weak become mine. Leeches will be obliterated because I make it my job to destroy them. I protect what’s mine and I take what’s yours...because that’s what I do. I want.

My story will not endear me to you and, frankly, I could care less if it does because I’m in this for the money and nothing else. There’s nothing redeeming about me. I’m a corrupt, money hungry, immoral asshole from Los Angeles. I’m every man’s worst nightmare and every girl’s fantasy.

I’m Spencer Blackwell...And this is the story about how I went from the world’s most coveted guy to the guy no one wanted around and why I wouldn’t trade it for anything in the world.

Excerpt

Prologue
Greed is a strange, strange sin.
All you want to do is acquire. Acquire money, acquire material, acquire time, acquire energy, acquire attention. The running mantra is “I want, I want, I want” but that quickly turns to “I need, I need, I need.”
Suddenly there just isn’t enough time for friends, for family, for anyone. Your goal is to acquire and to make sure what you acquire stays acquired. Your life depends on it. You don’t see truth because the truth is shadowed by enormous homes, incredibly fast cars, in lavish spending. Your life no longer belongs to you, but you are blind to it all because those around you are seeking the same.
So you shuffle along at an impossible rate, and you pass the real world around you.
But what you’ll come to realize, altogether too late, is that it’s never enough. It’s simply never enough.
Chapter One
“It’s confirmed. Peter Knight of Evergreen won’t approve the acquisition. You know what to do,” my snake of a father told me, not two steps into his front door.
“I just got off a seven-hour flight. You can’t let me settle in? Possibly say hello?”
He stood, watching me, a slight tick in his square jaw. He tucked his hands into his Italian silk pants. His six-foot frame followed the steps up to the foyer and stopped a few inches away from my own. We were face to face. Although I fell an inch shorter, he no longer intimidated me. I knew if I had to, I could kick his ass.
“Hello, Spencer,” he said, a serpent’s smile spread wide across his mouth before falling flat. “Get to work. I don’t pay you to sit around. I don’t care if it is your Christmas break.”

We stayed where we were, each waiting on the other to back down. The tension was palpable. In the end, his face relaxed and he began to chuckle, stepping aside and making way for me. I picked up my bags and headed for my room, giving myself plenty of space to pass him without touching him.
When I got to the bottom of the stairs, I changed my mind and threw my bags on the second to last step, intending to pick them up later. I stretched my muscles, loving the feel of my back popping, and started for the kitchen.
“Where the hell do you think you’re going?” he asked, still standing in the foyer, watching my every move.
“If I don’t say hi to Mom and Bridge, they’ll think something’s up,” I told him and continued on.
He didn’t respond, but I felt his stare burning into the back of my head.

Review

Every girl has insecurities, especially when she is a young adult just getting started on their own.  Melanie is no different, however, she lets her insecurities define her.  I I could relate to Melanie, or at least the me of 19 could.  There were so many times I wanted to reach into my nook and shake Melanie and tell her to pull it together.  She refuses to let anyone think she is less than perfect so she doesn't turn to anyone when she needs help.  Her self confidence was non-existent at times and it really broke my heart.

Then there is Bryan.  Sweet, sexy, dorky Bryan.  He really seems to have the whole life thing figured out.  But everyone has their struggles.  I loved Bryan for his confidence, his exuberance, his willingness to help others, and especially for the way he loves.  Bryan is the type of guy I hope Baby Girl falls for one day.  He is the kind of guy that loves with everything he has, but has enough confidence in himself to know when to draw the line.

I really liked that all this isn't happening after all the Maddy and Reid stuff, but instead, its happening while Maddy and Reid are falling madly in love.  Melanie's story is very definitely affected by what is going on in the lives of her friends.  One other thing that I really liked  is that you get to know Mamma (aka Lucy) a lot better in Let Love Heal.  Even more exciting than that?  Book 4 in the Love Series is called Let Love Be and its all about Lucy!

About the author

I’ve always been an avid reader. Majoring in English Literature was a no brainer. Becoming a teacher and instilling my love for reading into my students was also a no brainer. I’ve spent the last ten years teaching and I’ve loved (mostly) every minute of it. When I was home on maternity leave for my third son, I discovered a new genre that sparked my creativity. My passion for writing sprang from my love of reading and once I knew I had a story to tell, I couldn’t wait to get it out there. I only hope that my readers enjoy reading my story as much as I enjoyed writing it.

Off Chance (Off Series #5) by Sawyer Bennett

Flynn is the most subtle alpha male I've ever encountered, and I love him for it!  Flynn has one characteristic most alpha males lack, patience.  The man understands the concept of delayed gratification and it is a wonderful and refreshing thing.  Don't get me wrong, he is a still full on alpha male.  Once he has had enough he is as headstrong as the best of them, but unlike most, its the sweet tender side he wears on the outside.  The story behind his Hero Complex is unbelievably heartbreaking, but he would not be the man he is if he had never endured that tragedy.

Rowan enters Flynn's life when he rescues her, from a fire that would have undoubtedly killed her.  She is strong willed and refuses to be anything but independent.  The thing she fears most is getting hurt by someone she loves, again.  I loved watching as Flynn got her walls to break down.  I will say the interactions between Flynn and Rowan were H.O.T..

This would of been one of my top Off Series books, however, there was one story line that left me wanting more despite it being fully resolved.  That being said, it makes me really really sad to know that as of right now this is the last planned Off Series book!  Its been great and I adore the characters.  They are all real and flawed and just plain wonderful.  I'm looking forward to more by Sawyer Bennett!

BLOG TOUR AND GIVEAWAY: Off Chance by Sawyer Bennett

He is seeking absolution.

Flynn Caldwell has a hero complex and it’s one of the reasons he joined the New York City Fire Department. He has spent his entire professional career trying to atone for that one person he failed to save. Because, if he can do that, then perhaps he can be worthy of love again.

She is seeking escape.

Rowan Page’s life is nothing short of a disaster. Always immersed in trouble, she has only herself to depend on. She’s determined to pull herself out of this mess and make something of her life, despite the hard years she has lived on the streets of New York.

Together, they have the chance to become complete.

Flynn and Rowan’s worlds exist miles apart, but when a chance meeting brings them together, neither of them can deny the instant pull that connects them to each other. What starts as a tiny spark eventually flares into a fire so hot, it refuses to be extinguished.

For it to work, both of them will need to jump feet first into the flames to see where it takes them, despite the risk of being burned.

Forever Innocent (Forever #1) by Deanna Roy

I ugly cried.  I ugly cried a LOT reading this.  We are talking full on sobbing, heaving, tissues required ugly crying.  I knew it was coming, I could feel it from page one and going though it was just as hard as I imagined it would be.  Please be aware if you delve into this one, its difficult to read at times, but it is also beautiful.

During their senior year of high school, Corabelle and Gavin were expecting a bouncing baby boy.  When Corabelle's water broke just 32 weeks into her pregnancy their worlds got turned upside down again, and just seven days later, their son died.  Right after his funeral Gavin takes off and Corabelle is left to grieve on her own.  After transferring schools four years later, Corabelle is shocked to run into Gavin in her astronomy class.

My imagination was in full swing as I turned Deanna Roy's descriptions into pictures in my mind.  Everything was so vivid that it made everything very real for me.  I was moved by this book in so many ways.  As a NICU mom to a 31 weeker, I have first hand knowledge about a lot of the feelings Corabelle and Gavin went through in those too short 7 days with their son.  Having a child in the NICU is an experience you cannot fully comprehend unless you've been there.  The way Deanna Roy wrote about it brought me right back to the day Baby Girl was born and the weeks that followed.  And I relived it.  Then I experienced the worst fears I had during that time, through Corabelle and Gavin's eyes.  But this book isn't about that experience.  It's about moving on and finding closure and never forgetting.
"Crossing the line isn't about forgetting the people we love.  It's about not letting our past sorrow steal our future joy." ~ Gavin
Corabelle and Gavin's story doesn't end with Forever Innocent.  The rest of their story will be in book 2, Forever Loved.  I'll for sure be keeping an eye out for more info!

Wish I May (New Hope #2) by Lexi Ryan

I absolutely love this book!  After reading Unbreak Me I really didn't think I could love Will. But I learned so much about him in Wish I May that there is no way to not love him.  I went into this expecting Will to be the wishy washy man who just doesn't want to be alone I knew him to be from Unbreak Me, but I was wrong, way wrong.  Will is generous and thoughtful almost to a fault.  He has a heart so big he cannot stand to watch someone suffer when he can help.  He also had his heart irrevocably broken seven years ago.

Enter Cally.  She broke my heart over and over again.  Each time I thought I had come to terms with the horrors of her life new information came up that ripped me apart again.  Cally's story had me in tears more than once.  Her dedication to her family, especially her sisters, is amazing but the only choices life has given her are horrible.  On the surface she is a far from respectable, but just looking right under the fine layer of dust that covers her you can clearly see she has a heart of pure gold.

The first moment Cally and Will come together in Wish I May it is obvious they have a significant history together.  I enjoyed watching as Cally and Will try to navigate life while protecting what is left of their shattered hearts.

BLOG TOUR AND GIVEAWAY: Wish I May (New Hope #2) by Lexi Ryan

I grew up wishing on stars.

My father taught me to believe…in destiny, in magic, in happily ever after. Dreams were my scripture and the starry night sky was my temple. Then Mom stopped believing, left him, and took us with her. At the age of sixteen, I cashed in my dreams to pay the rent, pawned my destiny to keep my sisters together.

Now, seven years later, I’m returning home, grieving the death of my mother, and settling my sisters back into the life Mom threw away. I never intended to stay. I don’t want to deal with my father, who is so invested in the spiritual world he forgets the physical. I don’t want to face William Bailey, whose eyes remind me of the girl I was, the things I’ve done, and the future I lost.

This would all be easier if Will hated me. As it is, I have to hold my secrets close so they won’t hurt him more than they’ve already hurt me. But he wants to be in my life. He wants what I can’t bring myself to confess I sold. He wants me.

I find myself looking to my stars again...wondering if I dare one more wish.

Pregnancy and Infant Loss Remembrance Day

Today we want to take a moment to remember all the babies that did not have enough time with us.  Whether their time was cut short though miscarriage, stillbirth or they were lost during their infancy, each of these little ones deserves to be remembered and loved.

Here are a few titles that discuss this under-talked-about topic:

Coping with Grief: The Anti-Guide to Infant Loss by Rebecca Patrick-Howard

In the summer of 2010 Rebecca Patrick-Howard woke up and showered, not knowing that her young son had passed away in his sleep. What followed was a parent’s worst nightmare. There were no instructions on how to cope with the loss of a child. Rebecca soon discovered that dealing with the depression and sadness was just one hurdle that would have to be dealt with. None of the articles, books, and brochures she picked up warned her about the support groups that didn’t seem to have a place for her, the friends who would abandon her, the insensitive and sometimes cruel things people would say, the anxiety that a subsequent pregnancy would bring, and the financial ramifications that would stretch far beyond the cost of burial.  In Coping with Grief: The Anti-Guide to Infant Loss Patrick-Howard shares her own experiences with grief and includes the stories of others. Sometimes heart wrenching and sometimes even humorous; it covers the feelings, emotions, and experiences that can accompany losing an infant.

Right now, through the months of October and November, $5 from each paperback and $0.99 from every eBook sale is going to the Empty Arms Foundation for SIDS Research.

About the Author

Rebecca Patrick-Howard, a former Crisis Intervention Specialist, lost her 7 week old son to SIDS in 2010. A full time writer, she is the author of several non-fiction books and makes her home in the mountains of eastern Kentucky with her husband and two living children.

Review

I'm not often left speechless. This book literally left me with my jaw hanging and speechless on more than a few occasions.

Let me start off by saying if you can't handle really hard topics, this book isn't for you, It is riddled with them (abductions, rape, murder, suicide, etc).  However, if you can then you won't be disappointed. There was suspense, romance, revenge, and more plot twists than a maze.  I found myself needing to keep reading to find out if this poor, broken girl could really survive so much heartbreak and ugliness.  And I needed to know if Logan, this magical boy who showed up and could see right into Ree's soul, would heal her or break her like everyone else in her life.

Breathless was hard to read at times, but was well worth it. To witness such courage and determination in a person who has had very little good in life was truly inspiring.

BLOG TOUR, INTERVIEW, AND GIVEAWAY: Love and Lists (Chocoholics #1) by Tara Sivec

Love and Lists is the first book in the Chocolate Lovers spinoff - Chocoholics: The foul-mouthed offspring tell their stories.

Twenty-five-year-old Gavin Ellis has always had the love and support of his family ever since he was a little boy and couldn't stop talking about his penis. He's also always had their unsolicited advice and uncanny knack of embarrassing him at all costs. Now that he's an adult and trying to convince the love of his life to love him back, things haven't changed very much from when he was younger.

When Gavin's best friend Tyler suggests he make a to-do list of items that will ensure he wins the girl, Gavin is one-hundred-percent on board: after a few six packs.

After puking in the shrubs, a bad experience with Viagra, a Sex-Ed course gone wrong, and a slew of other mishaps courtesy of his family and friends, Gavin is pretty sure this list will be the death of him.

Sometimes, trying to make someone love you with a list isn't always the best idea. Especially when "Show her your penis" is the first "to-do" item...

I was super excited when I heard about the Chocoholic series...I knew if it was about Gavin as an adult it was going to be hysterical, and boy was it!! I don't know how she does it, but Tara Sivec never disappoints!! Every time I think, ok...she's done it all, there's nothing else she can dream up that would be as funny as this...but somehow she just does. And it's not as funny, it's usually funnier!! Let me just say that I don't think I'll ever be able to look at My Little Ponies the same!!!

This book quickly became one of my favorites and I'm already anxiously awaiting the next in the series. Thankfully, she writes super quick so I doubt I'll have to wait too long!!  Don't add this to your TBR list...just bypass the list all together and start reading immediately! I guarantee you won't be able to put it down. (I suggest you start reading it early in the day, or you'll end up like me being up most of the night and then being a zombie the whole next day!!)

We were thrilled to be able to interview Tara!  Thank you so much for taking the time to answer our questions.

***************************************

You have said that most of your material comes from real life experiences.  What is one scene from the Chocolate Lovers Series that was “really” you in the starring roll?
The bus sex scene in Futures and Frosting.  Sad, but true.  Sex on a bus is dangerous, people!  I still have the scars and bruises to prove it.

Which one of your characters so you relate to the most?
Claire.  She is so much like me.  I never wanted kids and I only like mine because I have to.  Just kidding.  Sort of.

Is your husband the inspiration for any of the men in your books?  If so, who?
He likes to tell people he’s Carter.  I just smile and nod.  He’s really more Drew than Carter, but don’t tell him I said that.

What is the craziest thing you have ever done?
Sex on a party bus in the bathroom while our friends were on it, pissed off because they needed to pee.

What was your first fan “moment”?
It’s still surreal to me that I have fans.  It’s been a year and a half and I’m still shocked when someone sends me a message or takes time out of their day to come to a signing.  I don’t think I’ll ever get used to it!  Every moment or interaction with a fan makes me want to pinch myself that it’s real and it’s happening to me.

What is your favorite thing about meeting fans?
They are so sweet and awesome!  Just the fact that they WANT to meet me is amazing.  I’m a soccer mom from Ohio and I’m kind of a dork.  It still boggles my mind that they want to be anywhere near me LOL!

You write in so many different genres, do you find it difficult to switch?  Is there a process you go though?
Sometimes it’s harder than others.  Writing Love and Lists was harder for me than the other Chocolate Lovers books because the last book I released was Watch Over Me, which is my true story and it took a lot out of me mentally.  It took a little time to find my funny again.  When I switch over to serious, I have playlists that I listen to with really depressing music on it LOL!  It’s so hard for me NOT to be funny and I have to catch myself sometimes when I’m writing more serious subject matter.  I’ve had to learn the difference between snarky and inappropriate.

Which genre do you prefer to write?
I actually prefer to write romantic suspense.  I really don’t think I’m funny at all and I always second-guess my funny and make people read it to reassure me.  Romantic suspense just pours out of me.  I love angst and drama.

Which is easiest to write?
Even though I love writing romantic suspense more, funny is easier to write.  There is a lot of research involved with romantic suspense.  A lot of time spent on Google.  With funny, I can just spew all of my word vomit on a page LOL!

When did you know you wanted to be a writer?
I’ve always loved to read.  I don’t remember a time when I didn’t read a book and think “I would have ended it THIS way or changed THIS dialogue.”  I’ve written short stories and poems for years and always dreamed about people reading what I wrote.  I never thought in a million years it would ever happen.

What did you do before you wrote?  Do you write full time now?
I worked for a brokerage company for 14 loooooooong years.  I assumed I would die in cubicle land.  I quit my job last November and write full time now.  It was the best decision I ever made.

What are your top 3 bucket list items?
1. To see one of my books on a shelf in a bookstore
2. Meet author Pamela Ribon
3. Have someone recognize me in the grocery store. When I have make-up on and awesome hair, of course.

Do your kids take after you or your husband?
Definitely me.  My kids are bat shit crazy and will say whatever they’re thinking.

How do you balance motherhood and writing/traveling?
I don’t think I’m balancing it at all yet!  I’ve been doing a lot of traveling lately and on top of all of my deadlines right now, I’ve forgotten what my kids look like.  Being at home working though is the best thing ever.  I can sit on the couch next to my kids and ignore them instead of sit in an office an hour away from home and ignore them.

If you were stranded on a deserted island you could bring one of your characters who and why?
Definitely Drew.  He would be completely inappropriate and make the time fly by.  He’d probably also get on my nerves so much that I could easily kill him and eat him without having to hunt for food.

If you could have a guilt free one night stand with one of your characters, who would it be and why?
Garrett from A Beautiful Lie.  He’s the only one of my characters I swoon over.  He’s a Navy SEAL so he’s automatically hot as balls.  He’s tough and rugged but he also has a soft side that can make you melt.

Marry/Kiss/Kill
Tell us which character you would marry, kiss, and kill in each of your series:

Chocolate Lovers Series
Marry – Carter
Kiss – Liz
Kill - Drew

Playing with Fire Series
Marry – Brady
Kiss – Garrett
Kill - Milo

Would you rather…..

Live one 1,000 year life
OR
Live ten 100 year lives
Ten 100 year lives.  I’d love to be able to do something different with each life.

Have the ability to read minds, but be illiterate
OR
Be able to read
Definitely be able to read.  I don’t want to know what people are thinking.  That sounds way too scary.

Fart with every step you take
OR
Have your past and future web browsing history posted daily on Facebook
Definitely fart with every step I take.  No one should have to see my browsing history.  It’s horrific.

Go back to the 1800s to meet your ancestors
OR
Go to the future to meet your Great Great Great…. Grandchildren
Go to the future, definitely.  I’m pretty sure I already know my ancestors were boring.  I’d love to see if my future grandchildren are as bat shit crazy as I am.

Always be freezing
OR
Always be sweating
Freezing.  I can’t stand to be hot.  I keep a fan on in our room year round.

Eat nothing but chocolate for the rest of your life (and still be healthy)
OR
Never eat chocolate again
I know I should hang my head in shame for this, but I’d be okay with never eating chocolate again.  I’m not really a big chocolate fan.

BLOG TOUR AND GIVEAWAY: Found in You (Fixed #2) by Laurelin Paige

Alayna Withers has only had one kind of relationship: the obsessive, crazy stalker kind. Now that Hudson Pierce has let her into his heart, she’s determined to stay away from her past tendencies and develop their love into more than just amazing sex. At least Hudson is as dedicated to her as she is to him, though she could do without his new found jealousy and need to control everything. To complicate matters, Hudson has his own baggage including a penchant for mind games and a hateful alcoholic mother who’s set on destroying any happiness he might find with Alayna.

Needing insight, Alayna turns to an unlikely source—Celia Werner. Celia’s been in love with Hudson herself and knows how to ride the rocky waves of the emotionally closed-off man. But when Celia’s true motivations behind their friendship are revealed, Hudson’s commitment might not be as solid as Alayna thinks, and even their all-consuming passion for each other isn’t enough to fix their mistrusts. This is the first relationship where Alayna hasn’t spiraled out of control. And she might lose Hudson anyway…

Review

STOP!  Have you read book one, Fixed on You yet?  No?  Well then move on to the next section, this review contains book 1 spoilers!  Oh you have?  Well then keep on reading!

Things are as hot and heavy as you would expect between Alayna and Hudson.  Now that they are a real item, things might even be hotter!  But that wasn't my favorite part of the story, not by a long shot.

I loved watching Alayna and Hudson's relationship in this book.  They grow together in a number of important ways while at the same time growing further apart.  Alayna second guesses every doubt she has about her relationship with Hudson.  She is afraid she is overreacting, looking too much into things and above all she is afraid she is obsessing again.  She turns to others looking for help and insight but even that is a choice she cannot trust.

Hudson is still as mysterious as ever.  I cannot wrap my head around what is going on with him.  He is either the most changed man in the history of book boyfriends or he is going to crush my heart in book three.  My doubts about him are eased a little since the title of book three is Forever with You so I am hopeful that Alayna and Hudson will get their HEA.

Fair warning there is a little bit of a cliffie at the end of this one.  Most of the major issues are resolved but there is one big question looming over the main characters.  Thankfully Forever with You is due out in January 2014 so we won't have to wait this one out too long!

About the author

Laurelin Paige is a sucker for a good romance and gets giddy anytime there’s kissing, much to the embarrassment of her three daughters. Her husband doesn’t seem to complain, however. When she isn’t reading or writing sexy stories, she’s probably singing, watching Mad Men and the Walking Dead, or dreaming of Adam Levine. She is represented by Bob Diforio of D4EO Literary Agency.

RELEASE DAY BLITZ and GIVEAWAY!!!! Love and Lists (Chocoholics #1) by Tara Sivec
